Plan for photographs

I plan to take the images for my main cover artist on a couch. This couch would represent the interview couch that was used by ‘Unplugged’ to interview ‘Fields of Glass’ the band. I will also use a Digital Nikon SLR Camera to take these photos. My main artists would be dressed in clothes that would present them as sophisticated but make the look like a rock band at the same time. This is because I aim to challenge the stereotype on rock artists. I will take a number of shots, I will take single shots of each member as well as a group shots followed by shots of them on the interview couch. Out of these shots I will pick a front cover image, a contents page image and a number of images for the article.

Peer Assessment

This is the feedback I got from my peers. I will use the feedback I received to improve my magazine front cover and contents page.

Student Name 1: Hafsah
How To Improve
Level/ Mark
Front Cover
Contents Page
Level2/mark 30 for the front cover.

Level3/mark 38 for the contents page
This front cover is good and the effects which have been used show a good understanding of the program which has been used. The barcode has been raised which shows that you have an understanding of what will happen to magazine after it has been printed. You have4 included words such as ‘free’ so that people will look at your cover and buy your magazine. The price has been included in a way that it looks like it is on a special offer and that is a way to get people to buy the magazine based off the front cover. The background image is clear and doesn’t look like it has been stretched out; it looks like it has been taken for the purpose to be put on to the magazine front cover. Just add more puffs for articles which will be inside you magazine.
This contents page is good but there is a lot of free space at the bottom which could be filled in with something. The way the images have been layered has a good effect on the contents page and makes it appealing.

How To Improve
Level/ Mark
Front Cover
Contents Page
Front Cover: Level 2 mark 26
Ø  Excellent font cover with slick graphics effect
Ø  Really good title block
Ø  Use of barcode
Ø  Use of price on the front cover
Ø  Different variations of colours
Ø  Use of puffs

Contents Page: Level 2 mark 29
Ø  Organised layout
ØFantastic pictures of   different groups
Ø   Loads of pages inside containing pictures and text
Ø  More puffs to make add more attraction
Ø  A more recognized artist so the public can familiarise themselves with the music star
Ø  Put the price tag further down the page because it is blocking the title
Ø  Take out the white box from the title and make it blend in with your background cover
Ø  The colour of ‘contents’ title doesn’t fit in with your house style colours
Ø  Not all the pictures have the page numbers highlighted blue over them

Original article draft

Double Page Article: ‘We started this band in Julia dads garage – we never thought we would get this far’

This weekend I was at the Vans Warped Tour with all the HOT new bands. I got the chance to meet all the performers but what I was really excited about was my EXCLUSIVE interview with the hottest new band out there; Fields OF Glass. We took to the sofa backstage at the warped tour. On my right sat lead guitarist Kara dressed in blue skinny jeans with a bright yellow top and to my left sat the lead singer Brooklynn in black skinny jeans with a denim shirt. Beside Brooklynn sat the drummer Julia dressed in a black shirt and grey skinny jeans. The room is filled with the musical atmosphere, guitars, drums and mike stands surround us while the music from outside filled our ears. The band had a very lively and energetic mood as Kara says ‘I can’t wait to perform the crowd outside is wild’. Before I got to meet the band, they had been meeting fans, signing CD’s and taking pictures with people who adore them and soon they will go on stage to perform to thousands of fans.

Are you excited to perform today?
Brooklynn: Definitely we are performing main stage and we are one of the headlining bands. The amount of excitement is surreal.

How did this band originally formed?
Brooklynn: We were friends for a long time we just performed covers at Julia’s dad’s garage in Essex every now and then as a hobby.
Kara: We sort of started this band at the wrong time, we had to juggle our first album and our Studies it was a challenge.
Brooklynn: Yea my mom would come in and catch me writing a new song instead of studying for Chemistry and she’d go mad that’s how the song Priority came to form really.

With all that pressure they sure did well winning Best British Newcomer and Best International Newcomer at the KERRANG 2013 AWARDS

What was your breakthrough?
Julia: With the song Brooklynn wrote we decided to perform it at ‘Open Mike Night’ at some pub my dad goes to and this producer heard us and asked us to come to his studio the next day.
Kara: And the next thing you know we were recoding our first album Unscathed.
Brooklynn: We are moving fast.

When is the Album released?
Brooklynn: It was meant to be released in October but we had some difficulties with my vocals for the last single Forget ALL so we had to move it to November 23rd.

Why Unscathed?
Brooklynn: Because out of all the crap we went through we came out on top as winners.
Kara: With smiles on our faces.

Who are we expecting to see featured on the Album?
Brooklynn: We worked with Oli Sykes which was pretty cool. Really cool, and collected down to earth guy.

When does the tour begin and end?
Brooklynn: Well our European tour; Come at Us – Starts in March with the O2 in London, but right now we are just planning our shows so we, ourselves don’t have a clue when the tour officially finishes.
Kara: Everyday our manager rings us with a new country and it’s amazing!
Brooklynn: We will release the Final dates in February.

What country are you looking forward to?
Julia: Japan! I can’t wait to perform in Tokyo and Poland!
Kara: We all can’t wait for Japan. Poland is the mid-point in our tour, so we get to stay there for a week before getting back on the road and then Japan is our last destination and the start of our holiday.
Brooklynn: We are also touring in the US, I can’t wait for California. We might be performing with one of our hero’s.

Who is the quietest, loudest, bossiest and most energised?
Brooklynn: Kara is the bossiest! Hands down!
Julia: Especially with time.
Kara: I am but I have to be. There is not a serious moment with them. If it wasn’t for me we would probably be late for everything.
Brooklynn: We are all equally loud, and I guess we are all equally energised.
Julia: No one is quiet. Nope. Not with us.

What do you do in your spare time?
Kara: I read, write, games, draw, T.V or sleep.
Brooklynn: Write, read comics, games, eat, draw or T.V.
Julia: Play drums, games or comics or eat or sleep.
Brooklynn: We have similar hobbies.

How are the tour bus arrangements?
Julia: We have this room at the back of the bus, there is a T.V a radio, a mini fridge and shelves. And then there are the four bunks.
Kara: The bunks are next to each other which we barely use because the room at the back of the bus is much better.
Brooklynn: But the bunks are put to a great use. We invite two friends, sometimes three to join us on the bus.

That’s it guys the AMAZING and WONDERFUL Fields of Glass.
Are they what you expected? Have you got any more questions you would like to ask?
